Interview

1. Where did your love for the sewing sector come from?
We’ve been sewing since we were teenagers. We used to make curtains, cushions, even tried sewing leather. We’ve never stopped since, and our passion only grew.

2. How long have you had your store?
We’ve had our shop in central Leuven for almost 6 years now.

3. Why should a sewista buy fabrics offline rather than online?
The personal contact is key. It helps us understand what the customer is looking for, so we can recommend the perfect fabric or pattern. Customers can see and feel the fabrics, tell us about their projects, and make better choices. Some return to show the results — that’s a real treat!

4. What can sewistas find in your store?
See answer to question 3 — advice, interaction, and the right match between project and product.

5. Where do you get inspiration for new fabrics and patterns?
We read a lot, go to fairs, and follow our suppliers on Instagram.

6. Any nice sewista hotspots nearby?
Leuven is a great place to shop: not too big, car-free, full of fun stores. We often recommend Cyaankali (second-hand designer), Zorro (young label), and the Mok café next door — worth the trip to Diestsestraat!

7. What was the first pattern you ever made?
Oh! That was ages ago… I think it was wide striped trousers we made as teens.

8. Do you get a lot of young sewistas in the store?
Yes, all ages visit us — from young teen girls to grandmothers sewing for their great-grandchildren.

9. Which sewista do you admire?
We’re most impressed by sewistas who add their own twist and create something truly new — like Eva from the blog ‘With love by Eva’.

10. What is your ultimate dream?
More space — so we can help even more customers.

11. Favourite Fibre Mood patterns?
We love the Susan dress, Bertha trousers, and Lauren top — all frequent flyers under our needle.

12. What pattern do you recommend for beginners?
The Lauren top in a trendy fabric — it’s a great and easy first project.

13. What pattern is perfect for a challenge?
The Susan dress for sure.

14. Golden tip for Fibre Mood sewistas?
A good sewing machine, and don’t give up when things go wrong. Once the sewing bug bites — it won’t let go!
